whimpy whimpy whimpy,
HUSK-TEA HUSK-TEA HUSK-TEA .
Ok, that is from an old commercial that I grew up with if you didn't get the reference. Haha! I have always been a tea lover, ever since I was a kid. So, you can imagine how excited I was to learn that an incredibly delicious lightly chocolate flavored tea could be made from the husk or shell of the cacao bean!
What are cacao husks ?
Cacao Husks are the fibrous outer shells of the cacao bean, which when steeped, create a tisane that tastes lightly of chocolate with floral notes.
How do you brew cacao tea?
Steep one tablespoon in boiling water for about 5 to 8 minutes. Husk-Tea can be enjoyed either black or with milk or mylk of your choice. I suggest a touch of milk and a sweetener to bring out the natural chocolate flavor in the tea (almond mylk is a favorite of mine). Cacao tea can also be enjoyed hot or cold.
Cacao teas are 99.5% caffeine-free.
Cacao and its husk contain theobromine, a stimulant which differs from caffeine. Theobromine has a slow release effect and helps release your body’s natural endorphins to give you that much needed pick-me-up whether you drink it morning, noon, or night.
Cacao tea is high in antioxidants, minerals, and vitamins.
